CERTIFICATE OF VALUATION FOR INSURANCE

We highly recommend having your treasured jewellery professionally valued to ensure it is accurately insured for its full replacement cost, reflecting its unique design, craftsmanship, and materials.

At Babette Wasserman, we provide professional and reliable valuation services for your jewellery and watches, working in partnership with an independent expert who brings over 25 years of experience in the jewellery, diamond, and watch trade. Our valuer is a Registered Valuer and a proud member of the Jewellery Valuers Association (JVA), ensuring your items are appraised to the highest industry standards.

Each valuation includes a detailed report, complete with descriptions, photographs, and accurate market-based values—accepted by all major insurance providers. Whether for insurance, probate, resale, or personal knowledge, you can trust us to deliver a meticulous and confidential service you can depend on.

Types of Valuation

Insurance (Replacement) Valuation
The most common type, required by insurers to determine replacement costs in the event of loss, theft, or damage. Based on current market prices and supports full settlement claims.

Probate Valuation
Required for estate administration, this valuation reflects open market values at the date of death and complies with Section 160 of the Inheritance Act 1984.

Family Division
Used during divorce or separation to fairly divide jointly owned assets. Also suitable for pre-nuptial agreements.

Private Sale Valuation
Helps individuals establish a fair, independent market price when selling items privately.

Post-Loss Assessment
An expert estimate based on available details, used when no prior valuation exists. Supports insurance claims following loss or theft.

Document fee – £84.00
This fee covers:

  • Cleaning of your jewellery items
  • A copy of your document in a password protected PDF format
  • Paper copies of document, posted by signed secure delivery are available upon request at £15 per document

This may include: Vintage watches, Diamonds or coloured gemstones over 1.00ct without certification, Lab grown diamonds without certification,Large multi-stone items and some antique items, Items without a U.K hallmark, Items that may have had some treatments or enhancements.
