Having just put my boyfriend though the ordeal of a lifetime this summer, when I left our home in London to try and climb the world’s second highest mountain, K2, in Pakistan, I felt that I owed him something special for all his support. It has been a really emotional experience for both of us, especially as K2 is considered one of the most deadly mountains in the world and I had a lucky escape.

I had collected some rocks whilst I was climbing the mountain and thought I could make him something like a pair of cufflinks that he could always look at and remember how much I appreciated him. After contacting a few jewellers in the Notting Hill area, I felt that after talking to Babette she was definitely the expert I needed to turn some pieces of rock from Pakistan into a beautiful and timeless pair of cufflinks. I wanted them to be expertly made, so that they would last a lifetime. I met Babette at her studio and we discussed the design, when I saw the finished cufflinks I couldn’t believe how well they had turned out- they were beyond perfect and I honestly could not have imagined that they would have turned out so well. When I gave them to my boyfriend he couldn’t stop staring at them and absolutely loves them.

We are both so happy with the cufflinks, and can imagine passing them on to our kids one day. They are totally priceless and so meaningful, and I have loved going through this process with Babette and seeing her enthusiasm for making a timeless gift from some very special pieces of rock.
